The 3Com OfficeConnect WL-553 is a broadband router that offers wired and wireless connections for offices and homes. It connects using ADSL to the Internet, and the four-port router also can handle up to 64 wireless connections. The 3Com wireless router offers a number of security features, including WPA/WPA2 connection protocols for wireless users, and multiple internet firewalls. Users of the 3Com OfficeConnect WL-553 can handle 802.11b, 802.11n, and 802.11g connections of up to 108 Mbps. The four-port router has two antennas for wireless connections, and measures 1.5 x 8.7 x 5.3 inches and weighs 1.3 lbs. While a number of types of computers can connect to the 3Com wireless router, the stock model requires a Windows 98/ME/XP/2000 operated computer for installation. After that, systems administrators can access the 3Com wireless router's configuration system from anywhere in the world using a browser-based interface over SNMP protocols. The maximum range with no obstructions, such as outdoors, is 1,150 feet, and indoors, up to 328 feet. Users who need a wireless connection for multiple users and ADSL speeds should consider the WL-553.
